I've been driving my 2019 Toyota Camry with the stock interior lighting for four years now, but ever since I made the switch to LEDs, I've been wondering why I waited so long to make my life easier.
From a stock (halogen) bulb to DDM Tuning’s bright 194 LED, 36 x 3014 SMD, White, the total upgrade cost was less than $10.00* with unbelievable results!
A noticeable 380 lumens now illuminate the entire cargo area in a bright white color.
Using DDM Tuning’s Auto Trim Removal Kit, this was again another quick and easy, “plug and play” installation.
Step by Step, How I Upgraded My Trunk/Cargo Light to Bright White LEDs:
1) Opening the trunk, the cargo light is located directly above, in the middle, of the trunk ceiling of this 2019 Toyota Camry.
2) Using the flattest plastic panel head of the DDM Tuning’s Auto Trim Removal Kit, insert into the right side of the trunk light. The trunk light snaps into place, so we’re essentially snapping this out of place in order to remove the current bulb.
3) Once the trunk light is removed, remove the black bulb cover to access the bulb. The black bulb cover also easily snaps in and out of place.
4) Grab a thick cloth and carefully remove the HOT stock bulb by unplugging (pulling) it out of place.
5) Plug in (insert) the new LED (194 LED, 36 x 3014 SMD, White by DDM Tuning). The new LED should turn on to power instantly once plugged in.
*Given this LED is non polarity sensitive, it didn’t matter which way the LED was plugged in to power. Note, some vehicles can be more finicky than others when it comes to how the bulb is inserted to power. Should you install and notice the new LED is not powering on, remove and turn the bulb the other way to install.
6) Snap the black bulb cover back in place (over the newly installed LED).
7) Snap the trunk light back into place.
All Done!
Completed in my own garage and no professional mechanic assistance needed! Gone are my days of struggling with a poorly illuminated trunk, I now find everything I need in seconds.
